What Happened To Brad Stevens

After their elimination from the first round of the playoffs at the hands of the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday evening, the Boston Celtics are not wasting any time in making adjustments in the front office.

The Boston Celtics made the announcement on Wednesday morning that the team’s current head coach, Brad Stevens, will be moving on from his role as head coach to become the new head of basketball operations for the franchise.

Stevens will take over for longtime president Danny Ainge, who is stepping down from his position. Stevens will be in charge of directing the search for a new head coach for the Boston Bruins.

Ainge stated in a press release that “helping to guide this organisation has been the thrill of a lifetime,” and “having worked side-by-side with him since he’s been here, I know we couldn’t be in better hands than with Brad guiding the team going forward.”

What Happened To Brad Stevens

This was in reference to Brad’s new role as the team’s new general manager. “I want to express my appreciation to the ownership, all of my teammates on the Celtics, and the most passionate fans in basketball for being a part of this journey.”

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Stevens has reportedly become “worn down” as a coach, especially since the Orlando bubble, which undoubtedly took a mental and emotional toll on everyone involved in trying to pull that off as safely as possible.

This is especially true since the bubble occurred. According to a report by ESPN’s Tim Bontemps, Ainge had been “mulling his future” with the team for several months, and he had been discussing with the ownership of the team who would take over in his job in the event that he decided to step down.

It would appear that Ainge and Stevens, who were both looking to take their careers in opposite directions, were blessed with a fortunate confluence of events that allowed them to do so.
