Alan Strauss, a therapist, is being held captive by his former patient, serial killer Sam Fortner. During their therapy sessions, Sam has an unusual request for Alan: suppress his desire to kill.
The Patient, a 10-episode limited series, will premiere on Hulu on August 30 with this premise. The official teaser trailer dropped today.
The series was created by Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg (The Americans), who also serve as executive producers.
Alan (Steve Carell) must calm Sam’s (Domhnall Gleeson) disturbed mind and prevent him from killing again if they are both to survive.
Sam, however, is unwilling to broach sensitive subjects like his infamous mother “Candace” (Linda Emond). Alan, imprisoned alone, recalls his former therapist “Charlie” (David Alan Grier) and struggles with waves of his own repressed troubles,
including the recent loss of his wife “Beth” (Laura Niemi), and the painful estrangement from his religious son “Ezra” (Andrew Leeds).
While in prison, Alan learns not only the extent of Sam’s obsession but also how much work needs to be done to mend the rift in his own family. The clock is ticking and Alan is fighting for his life to stop Sam before he becomes an accessory to murder or a victim himself.
Carell, along with Caroline Moore, Victor Hsu, and Chris Long, is an executive producer on The Patient, and writers A.J. Fields and Daniel Weisberg contributed to the script. FX Productions is responsible for creating the show.
The Patient Release Date
On August 30, 2022, the show will debut on Hulu. It will debut with two episodes on the service. After the pilot airs, subsequent episodes will drop weekly, with a new episode available every Tuesday.
Ten episodes make up the whole series. Chris Long helmed the first two episodes, and Kevin Brady will helm the next three.
What Is the Plot Of The Patient?

Field’s and Weisberg’s creative insights, their great understanding of characters, and a well-thought-out narrative will all be on full display in The Patient, which will showcase Steve Carell’s exceptional talents as an actor, producer, and creative partner.

Steve Carell, who is widely recognized for his role as Michael Scott on The Office, stars in the film The Patient. Approximately How Many Episodes Does The Patient Contain?
There will be ten episodes of The Patient, and each one will run about 30 minutes on average. Intake, “Alan Learns to Meditate,” “Issues,” and “Company” are the titles of the first four episodes, which have also been released.

Is There A Trailer For The Patient?
The first time I saw this trailer, I was completely blown away. I first saw it a few years ago, and was blown away; watching it again while researching this article left me even more impressed. For some reason, I think Carell and Gleeson make a fantastic duo.
I also liked that the trailer revealed a great deal of information while providing us with almost none at all. You get snippets of how these two come together and a little bit of background of what’s ahead, but they leave enough on the table for us to ponder what’s coming up in the series. This is something I have to see right away!
