Early box office signs aren’t as bad as expected, but a Morbius 2 is still far from a sure thing.
The Spider-Man spin-off opened to a healthy $39.1 million in the US and $84 million worldwide. Obviously, it’s not on the same scale as Spider-Man: No Way Home, but it’s a decent result that could indicate a desire to see more, especially in light of the negative reviews.
Even if the first film sets up a sequel — and I’m not just talking about the possibility of a Spider-Man crossover — Morbius could tank in the coming weeks and kill any hopes of a follow-up.
So, here’s everything you need to know about a possible Morbius sequel but be warned that there are substantial spoilers for Morbius ahead.
Morbius 2 Possible Release Date
On October 7, 2022, Sony will release Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One), the first of several Marvel films it will produce over the next few years. Kraven the Hunter, another Spider-Man spin-off, is scheduled to premiere on January 13, 2023.
Sony’s other Marvel films set for 2023 releases are scheduled for June 23 and October 6. We speculate that the release date of Across the Spider-Verse (Part Two) will be October 6, 2023.
It’s possible that June of 2023 could be the release date for Morbius 2, provided that production gets underway this year. Nonetheless, we anticipate more of a Madame Web or Olivia Wilde’s rumored Spider-Woman film.
If we want to see Morbius 2, we might have to wait until at least 2024.

Morbius 2 Plot
Even when they were least expecting it, Morbius delivered for their fans. They were all pleasantly surprised by how well it turned out. If you watched Morbius, and you watched it pretty carefully, you’d realize that the movie’s climax hints at a daring plot for Morbius 2.
However, there have been no recent announcements of official updates. On the other hand, much less time has passed since Morbius’ theatrical release; the film is still playing in theatres, so we do not know how successful it has been at the box office.
However, we’ve heard that the creators of Morbius are already hard at work on a sequel. In addition, it has established a plot that, with enough energy and enthusiasm, could be carried forward into Morbius 2. Further, it has the potential to be superior to the ones that came before it.
Nonetheless, a solid understanding of Morbius is required for success with Morbius 2. Morbius has been met with universal acclaim from its many viewers.
But without a sensible strategy, any plan is useless. This means that the fate of Morbius’ renewal depends on the film’s earnings, box office take, and other similar metrics in the coming days.
However, up until this point, the general consensus has been that it won’t be released until Morbius 2. While it’s impossible to know the exact plot in advance, you can probably guess what will happen if you connect the dots from the end of the film and assume it will be a thriller. Plus, it’s based on the smash hit Marvel comic book series “The Living Empire.”
