Bertinelli divorced Vitale after ten years of marriage, alleging “irreconcilable issues.” The couple’s commitment to their prenuptial agreement was also emphasised in the legal papers.

Bertinelli wrote a book called “Enough Already: Learning to Love the Way I Am Today” in which she discussed her internal battles with self-acceptance and -love. The actress said of her role, “I cover a lot,” to PEOPLE before the film’s premiere.

As the author puts it, “But ultimately it’s about growing older, with the emphasis on growth, learning lessons, and reminding myself — and perhaps those who read the book — that life is a gift and too short to waste.”

Bertinelli requested a divorce from her husband six months after she initially filed for a legal separation. Bertinelli claimed that her feelings for Van Halen did not play a role in the demise of her marriage.

Despite the fact that she discussed them at length in her memoir. We grew distant,” she told PEOPLE. “Nothing in my feelings for Ed should be interpreted as a reason for my choice. Tom and I have the same sentiments; we want the best for one other.”

Bertinelli admitted in a TikTok video that she had been dealing with “yucky stuff” and then read a piece from her autobiography.

She later uploaded a video with “tolerate it” by Taylor Swift playing in the background and said, “divorce sucks” in the comment.

Vitale responded to Bertinelli’s petition for divorce by filing a lawsuit challenging the validity of their 2011 prenuptial agreement. And he tried to prevent Bertinelli from asking for alimony, too.

Then, Vitale asked the court for spousal support of $50,000 per month in addition to roughly $200,000 to cover legal bills.

He’s a wonderful man struggling with many of the same questions I have: How can he give his life more meaning? How can he find happiness in this world? Why does he act the way he does? Where does he stand now? Moreover, how does he alter his behaviour moving forward? Our previously planned routes shifted.”

Bertinelli, 62, remarked, “I’m at the airport, I’m ready to go meet Wolfie” (her son Wolfgang Van Halen). “Someone from my lawyer’s office just called. All documents were duly signed. The paperwork to officially submit them is almost ready.”

She then added with a smile: “My (expletive) divorce was finalised on 11/22/22. I am now a contented divorcee. Well, my God, it’s here at last! In other words, that experience is already behind us.”

‘11.22.22 second best day of my life,’ Bertinelli captioned the clip.

I want what’s best for him, but I need some space, she told USA TODAY. “For now, I just need to be by myself. I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
