At present, Facebook has approximately three billion active members. Our Facebook wall is mostly responsible for spreading the news of our birthday to our friends and family.

What Happened On The Birthday Of Facebook

Facebook’s origins can be traced back to that year. But before he attended Harvard University, Zuckerberg founded Facemash in 2003. It was a website where college students could rate the physical attractiveness of their fellow classmates.

However, Facemash was taken down in just two days for breaching university rules on the acquisition of resources. But the experience taught Zuckerberg something, and in January of 2004 he signed up for Facebook.

Harvard students were among the first to use the app in order to establish a digital footprint online through the sharing of photographs and other media.

The app skyrocketed due to its dependability and vast accessibility. Success early on paved the way for membership from other top universities including Yale and Stanford.

Sadly, Facebook Is Blocked In China.

The restriction, which has been in effect since 2009, restricts access to the social media site and several other US-based services, such as Google and Dropbox.

2003-2006: Facebook’s inception, the Thiel investment, and the rebrand

In 2003, while still a student at Harvard, Zuckerberg created a website he dubbed “Facemash.”

Similar to Hot or Not, this website asked visitors to “select the “hotter” individual” from two pictures taken from the internet address books of nine different Houses.

In the first four hours after launching, Facemash received 450 unique visitors and 22,000 photo views. In spite of widespread distribution via university listservs, the site was taken down by Harvard administrators just a few days later ).

For violating security, copyrights, and privacy, Zuckerberg faced expulsion and other serious consequences. A dismissal of charges was ultimately reached.

For his last semester, Zuckerberg developed this experiment into a social research instrument. On a website he made available to his peers, he posted photos of works of art, each of which had an area for comments.

It was under intense pressure to prohibit a sitting president and faced a backlash from advertisers last year due to hateful material. It was also accused of failing to prevent election and vaccination falsehoods.

His message was one of reserved optimism. Among the many things he documented in his writing were “The year 2021 has many mysteries. No one can say with any certainty when immunisations will be readily available, when teams will return to the office, or when everything will return to normal.”

“I think technology can be the key to opening up new doors of possibility, and that the internet’s complete story has yet to be told. For that reason, I look forward to the coming year with optimism and am appreciative of your company on this adventure.”
