Adam Rich, Former Child Star of ‘Eight Is Enough,’ Dies at 54

Pageboy mop-topped child actor dam Rich, who won the hearts of millions as “America’s little brother” on “Eight is Enough,” has passed away. He was 54.

According to Lt. Aimee Earl of the Los Angeles County Medical-Examiner Coroner’s office, Rich passed away on Saturday at his home in the Brentwood neighbourhood of Los Angeles. While the death was being investigated, no suspicious circumstances were suspected.

After playing Nicholas Bradford, the youngest of eight children, on the ABC smash dramedy from 1977 to 1981, Rich’s acting career was brief.

His on-screen stepmother, Betty Buckley, expressed her grief after hearing of his passing on Instagram on Sunday, calling Rich a “light” and her “young comrade” from the set and a friend ever since.

“Buckley uploaded photos from the show, including ones of her and the actor on a swing set, a horse, and with Buckley’s arm around him as he slept, and that She “really enjoyed” him as a person and “cherished” her time spent at his company as an employee. This man exemplified everything that is wonderful, pure, funny, fresh, and natural in the world. Everyone on set and in the crowd found his antics hilarious.”

Adam Rich Death Shocking News

The public life that Rich led after his celebrity faded was typical of countless child actors whose promising careers were subsequently destroyed by drugs and alcohol and run-ins with the authorities.

After almost colliding with a parked California Highway Patrol cruiser in a highway maintenance lane in 2002, he was detained for driving under the influence. He was arrested in April 1991 for an attempted drug store break-in, then again in October 1991 for allegedly stealing a narcotic-filled syringe from a hospital when he was receiving treatment for a dislocated shoulder.

Publicist Danny Deraney stated Rich had untreatable depression and had worked to reduce the taboo surrounding mental illness. Over the years, he attempted many unproven treatments without success.

Deraney revealed that he and other people close to Rich had been concerned when they hadn’t heard from him in recent weeks.

Deraney told The Associated Press, “He was just a very kind, generous, loving soul.” Having a career as a well-known actor was not always his goal in life. He lacked pride, not even an ounce of it.

Deraney and Rich’s loved ones got worried when they couldn’t reach him, he said.

“He was simply a very nice, generous, loving soul,” Deraney said to The Associated Press.

His interest in acting could have been misplaced. Lacking any sense of self-importance, the man was completely inconsequential.
