A sequel to the 2019 murder mystery Knives Out has been officially greenlit. The Agatha Christie-style whodunit was a smashing success with audiences upon its release in 2019, earning over $300 million worldwide.
Daniel Craig reprises his role as the mysterious detective Benoit Blanc in this sequel, in which he investigates a new case involving a cast of outlandish characters.
As part of a Twitter thread in which he lauded Agatha Christie for the fact that she “never tread water creatively,” writer/director Rian Johnson revealed the film’s official title: Glass Onion.
Stars like Kathryn Hahn (WandaVision), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Edward Norton (The French Dispatch), and internationally renowned musician Janelle Monáe all appear in the sequel.

Knives Out 2 Release Date
As of right now, December 23, 2022, is the official Knives Out 2 release date on Netflix.
The shoot took place in Spetses, Greece, between June 28 and July 30, 2021. The factory was shut down and production was relocated to other cities, one of which was New York. On September 13, 2021, filming finally wrapped.

Knives Out 2 Plot
This is a puzzle! Is a joke too easy to see? Sorry. But we can’t say for sure because we just don’t know. While Johnson and the rest of the cast have been protective of the film’s secrets (for understandable reasons), some details have leaked out.
Since Knives Out 2 isn’t a sequel, we can assume that Marta and the obnoxious Thrombey family won’t make another appearance. Instead, it will be Benoit’s own movie that stands on its own.
The name of the mysterious film is also known to us. Johnson announced the title of his Knives Out sequel on June 13, 2022: “Glass Onion: A Knives Out story.”
Rian also tweeted that he aimed to make his Benoit Blanc films similar to Agatha Christie’s works. This means that every film will have its own distinct feel, scope, motivation, and name.
The filming location suggests that this mystery will leave the tranquil East Coast of the United States for a more far-flung locale. We assume (but cannot confirm) that Benoit will be investigating yet another heinous murder case, as a change of scenery does little to mitigate humanity’s darker tendencies.
“I really think it’s going to be as good, if not better than the first one,” Bautista told People. To paraphrase Winston Churchill, “I’m always afraid to say that because I don’t want anybody to get offended saying that we’re going to be better, but I really do think this. To me, it’s all about the characters, who are so much more vivid. I have a feeling that folks are going to go crazy for this.

Knives Out 2 Cast
Daniel Craig stars as Benoit Blanc in Glass Onion. Blanc is based on Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot and is known for his Southern drawl.
No other members of the original Knives Out cast have been confirmed to appear in future episodes. Johnson has stated that he plans to use new actors in any potential sequels. Blanc is moving on to another case with fresh faces.

Where Can I Watch Knives Out 2?
Netflix. Did you miss the part where we broke down exactly how much this movie cost the streaming service? Netflix will not give this information or content away to its rivals or to traditional media.
However, it will be shown in theatres by the streaming service. When it debuts at TIFF in November of 2022, it will only have a small theatrical release. The Netflix films that have received limited releases have done so primarily to meet eligibility requirements for award nominations.
